Our People

Dudley Wines is a family run business.  Between Jeff and Val Howard, their children and their partner's, they grow grapes, make the wine, manage the cellar door and market the wine.

Jeff and Val are beef cattle producers who were looking for a new challenge to complement their life on the land.  The island’s cool climate combined with the limestone soils at their farm 'Porky Flat' had long been suggested as a likely place for grape production. So in 1994 Jeff and Val decided to take the plunge with a small 2.2 acre planting of Shiraz.

Jeff and Val’s son, Brodie is the winemaker and is in charge of the full production of all of Dudley's wines.

Also involved in the growing of Dudley's grapes are Alan ‘Willson, who planted Cabernet Sauvignon on what was to become the Hog Bay River vineyard, and a group of Kangaroo Island families involved in the Grassy Flat Vineyards.
